It's mid-morning, bright and sunny out, and Judith can be found at the edge of the river not too far from the Vesperia house, watching Jonah sit in the sand and derp around. Judy's got the journal open, her gaze shifting between the pages and her kid as he babbles away at the flowing water. It's relatively quiet and peaceful, and all seems right with the world, until the journal catches a little voice piping-]

....Shu-up!

[There's a long, extended pause, followed by a different voice entirely, one slightly ominous, as if carrying the promise of potential violence:]

Yuri.

I think "old man" would be a good start.

As long as he doesn't start calling me that, I'm fine with it.

True, but it'd be nice if he didn't start calling me that until I actually am old.

[....That thought makes the teasing fade from her expression a little, though her smile is still there.]

It's nice to think of, though, isn't it? To imagine all of us older, still together.

[That thought is ... well, it's a little embarrassing, but it's definitely nice, too. Hell, barring certain worst case scenarios, that's the way things'll be, most likely.]

I'm not a fan of imagining myself being older, but ... yeah, it's nice to think about.

[... The way he imagines things being is pretty damn far from White Picket Fences syndrome, though -- especially since the first thing Jonah said was "shut up" :|; If Jonah ends up being just like he was ... well, Judy knew what she was getting herself into. Yeah. We'll go with that.]

Oh? You don't want to imagine yourself as old and grey, shaking your sword at the kids who keep stomping on your lawn?

[Truthfully her idea of a nice family life is flying all over the world with Ba'ul, but she has no idea what Yuri has in mind, either.]

[Yuri stares blankly at the sky for a second, as if he were really imagining that for a moment there, before giving Judy That Look. But that only lasts for a second or two before he looks away.]

I don't like thinking that far ahead. Besides, I'm not so sure we'll even have a front lawn at that point. [Sadly, Yuri's imagination is a little limited on this front -- mostly since he can't see himself living anywhere aside from the lower quarter of Zaphias. So, naturally, he figures they'd probably end up there. Of course, he wouldn't say no to traveling constantly, either.]

[Oh, Yuri. You have no idea how much it amuses her when you get that look.]

I don't think it's anything worth worrying about.

[He may never know :( Regardless, he shrugs slightly.]

Yeah, probably not.
